RFE/Radio Liberty: “Moscow police have forcibly dispersed three separate picket actions in support of jailed Russian opposition leaders. RFE/Radio Liberty: “The United States has criticized Russia for arresting dozens of political protesters over the New Year’s weekend.” RIA Novosti reports that “A deputy head of the Russian lower house’s international committee, Alexander Kozlovsky, on Tuesday called on the United States to respect Russia’s court rulings, reacting to the U.S. criticism over the recently handed 15-day jail sentence to opposition leader Boris Nemtsov.”

Russia Today: “Two Russian icebreakers are rescuing an entire fleet of vessels stranded off the country’s Far East coast […] In total, around five hundred people are stranded aboard the fleet. The captains say there is no immediate danger to the lives of their crews.”
